Mindful CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is offered by David as a model of counselling that focusses on the way we adapt our behaviours subconsciously to avoid distress and how those adapted behaviours re-enforce that distress. It aims to reveal the core beliefs about the self and significant others that often lie at the heart of emotional problems.

When we experience emotional distress, we become our own worst critic, which itself undermines any attempts to change. The mindful approach to CBT aims to build a compassionate "observer self", to bring about an understand of the meaning of physical and emotional feelings and how to manage them. Underpinning this is the core philosophy of mindfulness of being in th emoment in every aspect of our lives and not only when meditationg, and to develop compassion for ourselves and others.

Mindful CBT is ideally suited to short-term therapy and can be used for:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Panic attacks
  • Body image problems
  • Low self esteem
  • Tinnitus
