According to Action on Hearing Loss, 1 in 6 people within the general population in the UK are affected by hearing loss. The impacts of hearing loss and deafness can include difficulties communicating with loved ones and colleagues, social isolation and alienation, and impaired access to education and services.
This CPD workshop will help you appreciate how hearing loss can affect the client. It explores the social and cognitive impacts of hearing loss, suggests strategies to enable you and the client to work effectively, and considers how to ensure the setup of your therapy room is as helpful possible.
It also considers the needs of the hard of hearing counsellor and addresses DDA compliance issues by offering advice on how to provide equal access to practice, training and CPD.
As a UKCP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor and qualified trainer who has been affected by hearing loss since childhood, David is uniquely qualified to offer training into the challenges to the working alliance faced by the deaf or hard of hearing client or therapist.
This workshop is being hosted by Newtwork Counselling and Training at
